When studying theology in 2003 my late wife Sarah was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). In the week of diagnosis, I was studying Romans ch8 in Greek and came across this word ὑπερνικῶμεν - ‘Hypernikomen’. It is unique in the New Testament and is translated - ‘more than conquerors’ though I actually prefer the older translation ‘overwhelmingly conquering’.

For every anniversary, birthday, and Christmas we wrote in our cards ‘more than conquerors’, it became our word. Sarah went home to be with her Lord, on the 22nd December 2023.
